The ambitious goals set by the Nando's team included a need for enhancing usability by considering the user experience while following brand guidelines, increased familiarity, increasing engagement, and encouraging knowledge sharing. To support these business objectives Nando's initially asked ClearPeople to deliver an Innovation Portal on Atlas. This is the perfect solution to rise to the challenges set by Nando's. ClearPeople apply technical skills to large organizations whereby people and their processes are better facilitated when they use the clever digital tools built into Atlas.
Following a review of the communication functionality that Nando's group wanted to achieve, ClearPeople implemented the digital workspace Atlas, which enables employees to better engage with the business across 24 countries. Atlas. The people-first digital workspace was the right solution to implement to support Nando's long term communication and collaboration strategy. This means that Nando's have a seamless communication framework for Food, People, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, Legal and Grocery departments and effectively turns down the heat of frustration felt within these previously disparate departments.
Crucial to the success of a new digital workplace was the adherence to Nando's global branding and design and a truly friendly user interface. Their old platform had none of this. Their global workforce was not engaging with it, and it poorly impacted employee productivity.
Consolidating multiple business information sources and collaboration portals all in one place gave Nando's new depth and understanding. The Atlas digital workspace caters to Nando's critical need for high-value content relating to innovation and future trends. This was provided by surfacing information from "Shaping Tomorrow", an Artificial Intelligence based
future research platform.
Combined with the Atlas email digest feature, it allows the Innovation Portal manager to create monthly "future innovation" newsletters. This feature simplified the process of sharing 'important business news' and
was just one of the key objectives set out by Nando's on its digital workspace journey. Nando's has since rolled out even more portals under the Atlas solution
framework.
Global restaurant chain Nando's began life in 1987 when Fernando Duarte and Robert Brozin were so impressed with peri peri chicken served in a restaurant in a Johannesburg suburb that they decided to buy the business. Renaming it to Nando's after Fernando's firstborn son they soon had four local outlets including one in Portugal. Three years later, they began a rapid expansion plan and today Nando's operates in over 1,000 outlets across 35 countries.
