Solidifying its reputation as the industry leader for Document Management solutions, ClearPeople has been awarded Project of the Year - Gold Award at the 2013 Document Manager magazine DM Awards at a gala black tie awards ceremony held at London’s Hotel Russell on October 3rd in front of 200 guests and over 40 other finalists.

ClearPeople was judged to have delivered the best overall Document Management solution from all applications submitted across all industry categories. The Document Manager Awards are for companies involved with Document, Records and Content Management, Imaging and the Capture Industry who have made a significant impact with the clients.

Winners of the DM Awards were selected by a panel of judges consisting of some of the UK’s leading company directors, IT consultants and sector magazine editors. Judged as the best overall Document Management project, the solution ClearPeople delivered for its client, The Crown Estate, uses Microsoft SharePoint and Windows Azure to help collect, share, and exchange in excess of 1 petabyte (one million gigabytes) of documents and data. This allows The Crown Estate to easily and cost effectively provide documents and data with over 120 external partners and the public.

ClearPeople’s solution consists of a fully integrated SharePoint Document Management solution, a partner extranet and a public facing website. This allows The Crown Estate to accept data from its external partners, then collate, format and publish the data via Windows Azure to the website. This has resulted in a saving of approximately 7,500 hours per year compared to the otherwise manual process and delivered an ROI in approximately 12 months. Additionally, The Crown Estate has saved in excess of £2m per year by using Windows Azure compared to hosting a public facing solution supporting up to one petabyte of data.

About the Crown Estate

The Crown Estate is responsible for managing the marine seabed around the U.K. on behalf of the Queen, and is custodian of an estate valued at £7 billion (U.S.$11 billion). As a public body it plays a major role in the development of the U.K. offshore wind farm energy industry. In doing so, it operates as a commercial real-estate business managing and tendering the current round of offshore wind, wave, and tidal leases.
