It was a proud moment for ClearPeople's Atlas team when Stuart Tait (Partner and Chief Technology Officer for Tax & Legal at KPMG UK) was interviewed for Microsoft's yearly flagship event, Microsoft Ignite.
KPMG is obviously an important Microsoft partner and customer in their own right, and it has been a fantastic journey to work alongside these two impressive organisations to solve some of the fundamental challenges around organising content, reducing friction and increasing value by unlocking the potential of knowledge hidden away in silos.
KPMG UK's Tax & Legal practice is at the forefront of innovating and rethinking ways of working in Professional Services, and for good reasons. Stuart comments: "The average tax professional is drowning in different sources of, and a huge wealth of, content they could use to rely on in their work."
The interview follows on a year after - nearly to the day - our joint Microsoft, KPMG and ClearPeople webinar, where Stuart succinctly laid out our progress to date. He also described project objectives and explained how the Atlas Intelligent Knowledge Platform, together with Microsoft's Topics and SharePoint Premium (then called Syntex) is helping KPMG Tax & Legal deliver on their knowledge productivity ambitions - while also getting ready for AI and M365 Copilot. At that stage, M365 Copilot was not yet announced, but Stuart was already laying the foundations for it, and for getting AI-ready.
In the recent interview Stuart said: "Applying metadata and enriching [content] to enable it to be navigable by our users and also by AI, has historically been a massive challenge." Listening back to the webinar (which you will find here), one can only be impressed by how Stuart aligned his roadmap for what turned out to be the Microsoft Copilot vision - and the need to "get ready for AI", well before the market caught on to that.
During the webinar, Stuart also laid out how the different technologies, specifically Atlas, Topics, and SharePoint Premium [aka Syntex]) are addressing specific business use cases and objectives.
KPMG Tax & Legal remains on course to deliver great value to their users. In Stuart's own words: "Without any proactivity on our users, we can serve them the right content at the right time, with the right metadata, to make it useful for the specific client problem they're trying to solve."
